Funded by Creative BC and the Province of British Columbia through Amplify BC, FACTOR (the Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings), and Canada Council, ARC was created to equip emerging artists with the creative, business, and technical skills needed to build sustainable careers in today’s music industry.
Since launching in 2022, ARC has supported 60 artists from across British Columbia through an immersive development experience that combines mentorship, education, creative collaboration, and live performance opportunities. The program continues to expand its reach, with participating artists having now officially released eight songs that were created during the ARC Retreat.
“The ARC Program is a vibrant and thoughtfully curated initiative that cultivates a strong sense of community among artists, while providing invaluable access to a network of industry professionals. The program is impeccably run, professional, well-organized, and deeply supportive. I was genuinely impressed by the artists’ enthusiasm, curiosity, and commitment to growth. It was a true pleasure and privilege to mentor such a talented and motivated group at this year’s Clinic.” – Lyndra Griffith-Harnden (2025 ARC Mentor)
As the voice of British Columbia’s music industry, Music BC developed ARC to strengthen the business, creative, and technical skills of recording artists while fostering meaningful connections between artists, mentors, and industry professionals.
Consisting of three core components: The Clinic, The Retreat, and The Show, ARC delivers a comprehensive artist development experience. The Clinic focuses on business and career development through workshops on branding, revenue generation, marketing, and long-term planning. The Retreat brings participants together for an immersive creative residency featuring songwriting, recording, performance coaching, and mentorship from world-class industry leaders. The program culminates with The Show, where all 15 artists perform in front of fans and invited music industry delegates.
This year’s producer faculty welcomes acclaimed producers Gus Van Go (The Beaches, The Arkells, Metric), Louise Burns (Orville Peck, Haley Blais, Kandle), and CINFAMOUS (Doja Cat, Mario, Mobb Deep, Raekwon). Returning faculty includes Jeia (Coco Jones, Bryson Tiller, Keke Palmer, Beenie Man), Erik PH Nielsen (City and Colour, Tegan and Sara, The New Pornographers, Blue Moon Marquee), Roger Swan (Busta Rhymes, Alicia Keys, Swollen Members, k-os, Maestro Fresh Wes) and Steve Bays (Hot Hot Heat, Diplo, Steve Aoki, Fitz and the Tantrums).
ARC also continues its partnership with Nettwerk, which introduced a powerful new audience development component to the program. Through the partnership, participants can access opportunities that leverage Nettwerk’s direct relationships with digital streaming platforms and social media properties worldwide, helping artists engage new audiences and accelerate fan growth beyond Canada’s borders.
Several ARC alumni have already chosen to distribute their music through Nettwerk, creating additional pathways for emerging BC artists to connect with global audiences and build sustainable careers.
“In just a few short years, ARC has become an important part of the artist development ecosystem in British Columbia,” says Scott Johnson, Executive Director of Music BC. “Seeing alumni such as Desirée Dawson, Kimmortal, Missy D, Vox Rea, daysormay, Teon Gibbs, FKA Rayne, Concrete Vehicles (fka Computer) and others continue to build audiences, access new opportunities and achieve significant career milestones is incredibly inspiring. It reinforces why programs like ARC matter: they help talented artists develop the skills, relationships and confidence needed to build sustainable careers.”
